Random Thoughts from the Week
$ 48 million was spent by Chicago on bidding on the 2016 Summer Olympics that ultimately went to Rio de Janeiro. $ 48 million…. Looking at the argument made by Brazil that South America has never hosted any Olympics, while others have hosted multiple times could have been the deciding factor. Look at it from an athlete’s and their entourage’s point of view, where would you rather go, Chicago or Brazil? Pretty sure the, “sights,” in Brazil will be much better than the Windy City. Hopefully television will show us these sights!!
Has anyone heard who is playing football Monday night yet? I am sure the hype machine is going to grow over the weekend, but is it worth all of this in week 4? There are some great games this weekend in the NFL.
Greg Norman & Chris Evert are splitting up, “but will remain friends,” after only 15 months of marriage. Why do so many athletes/movie stars seem to have such short lived marriages? Maybe this is common in everyday communities, but it seems like certain stars get married/divorced/linked to a new person regularly. Are they afraid to be alone or like the lime-light that much?
Game of the day Saturday Oklahoma @ Miami. The ACC REALLY needs Miami to step up and win this game after some of the showings last weekend. Granted OU will not be at full strength, but that is why I feel the need to win this game in greater. The conference needs this win for credibility.
NFL Game of the week- No, not Vikings-Packers, but Jets-Saints. We should find out which is better in this game, the Saints offense or the Jets defense. I really want to see this game and which side is able to control things.
NHL season began this week…………
So Mark Martin & Jimmie Johnson’s cars were too close for comfort and almost failed post-race inspection last week. How do you almost fail an inspection? I thought the system was a pass/fail system. If that had been Robbie Gordon or Scott Speed, would they have failed with the same measurements? These guys are told to work within a box and if you go outside the box, you get penalized. Since neither guy was penalized, I am assuming they were both in the box…. or were they given a break since they are in the Chase? Another break for the 48 team? Why have these teams been given a break on this, yet Montoya speeds on pit road at Indy and is punished enough to lose the race to the 48 car? NASCAR leaves themself open to criticism by interpreting rules differently for different teams.
Saturday for me should be a fun, but long day. Planning on going to UVA-UNC for a noon Raycom kick and then to U2 @Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh.
